Day-by-day itinerary
Watamu to Tsavo East National Park
Your ultimate safari journey kicks off at 6:00 AM with a direct pickup from your hotel in Watamu. Leaving the coast behind, you will drive along vibrant red-earth roads, crossing through expansive forested landscapes on your way to Tsavo East National Park. Your first scenic stop is at the famous Crocodile Point, where you can safely view massive Nile crocodiles basking along the banks of the Galana River. By 10:30 AM, you will officially enter the park gates to begin an immersive morning game drive, exploring the sweeping savannah in search of lions, zebras, and herds of red-dust elephants. At 1:00 PM, you will arrive at your safari lodge or tented camp just in time for a fresh lunch, followed by a relaxing afternoon to unwind in your room or take a cooling dip in the pool. The adventure resumes at 3:30 PM as you head back out for an afternoon game drive, tracking wildlife under the soft golden light of the setting sun. As twilight descends, you will return to Voi Safari Lodge or Voi Wildlife Lodge for a hearty dinner and your overnight stay.
Tsavo East to Amboseli National Park
After an early breakfast, you will check out and depart Tsavo East for Amboseli National Park, a breathtaking wildlife sanctuary world-renowned for its dramatic, snow-capped backdrops of Mount Kilimanjaro. This diverse park boasts a stunning variety of habitats, ranging from dry savannahs to lush, spring-fed wetlands, and is home to over 600 bird species, big cats, and all of Africa's iconic Big Five. You will arrive at Kibo Safari Camp in time for a delicious lunch, where you can settle into a spacious, beautifully appointed ensuite tent and relax on your private veranda. In the late afternoon, you will head out into the heart of Amboseli for an unforgettable game drive, getting up close to some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. The excursion includes a fascinating, short guided nature walk around Mzima Springs, giving you a safe vantage point to view resident hippos and vibrant aquatic birdlife. As night falls, you will head back to camp to enjoy a wonderful dinner, swap stories by the campfire, and rest under the stars.
Amboseli to Watamu
Wake up early to experience the African wilderness at its absolute finest. Following an early morning breakfast at camp, you will embark on a sunrise game drive, catching predators and plains game at their most active before the heat of the day sets in. If the weather is clear, this morning track offers your best opportunity to capture pristine, unobstructed photographs of Mount Kilimanjaro towering over the savannah. At 10:00 AM, you will wrap up your final wildlife tracks, leave the park gates behind, and begin your return drive down to the Kenyan coast. Enjoy a comfortable and relaxed journey as the rugged inland landscapes gradually transition back into tropical palms, arriving safely back at your Watamu resort in the late afternoon with memories to last a lifetime.
