Day-by-day itinerary

Watamu – Tsavo East National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Watamu at 6:00 AM. After departing for Tsavo East National Park, enjoy a scenic drive of approximately three hours before arriving at the park around 10:30 AM. Upon entering the park, begin your first exciting game drive as you search for elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, and a variety of bird species. At around 1:00 PM, arrive at your lodge or tented camp for lunch followed by time to relax by the pool or in your room. Later in the afternoon, head back into the park for another game drive, exploring the wilderness until sunset. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Tsavo East – Tsavo West National Park

Start the day with an early morning game drive, one of the best times to witness predators returning from their nightly hunt and enjoy the beautiful African sunrise. Return to the lodge for breakfast before departing for Tsavo West National Park, approximately a two-hour drive away. In the afternoon, enjoy another guided game drive through Tsavo West's spectacular landscapes. Visit the famous Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear waters provide a sanctuary for hippos, Nile crocodiles, fish, and numerous bird species. As evening approaches, return to Ngulia Lodge where you can unwind while watching wildlife gather around the nearby waterhole, visible from the lodge's restaurant.

Tsavo West – Watamu

After an early breakfast, enjoy one final morning game drive as you take in the beauty of Tsavo West and look out for any wildlife you may have missed. Later in the morning, exit the park at approximately 10:00 AM and begin your return journey to Watamu. Arrive back at your hotel in the late afternoon, marking the end of your memorable safari adventure.

  • Comfortable clothing is essential; bring a long change of clothes for the evening and early morning, and a T-shirt and shorts for the day. Remember to bring several changes of clothes, as the red soil of the savannah can be uncomfortable.
  • A swimsuit, as accommodations often have a swimming pool
  • Comfortable shoes (preferably old ones, not white ones, to avoid staining them)
  • A UK-style power adapter and a power bank are also essential
  • A camera and, if you want to be sure of seeing animals even from a distance, binoculars
